Russian troops closing in on a Ukrainian power plant, but it’s already been ‘cannibalized’ by crews

Crews work at the Kurakhove Thermal Power Plant earlier this year to disassemble and remove equipment. After the nearby railway was damaged, the plant could not longer receive coal and was inoperable, so the decision was made to send the equipment further west to help repair other energy sites.

Ukraine’s energy grid has undergone 11 major attacks since March, and one thermal power plant was deconstructed before Russian forces moved in.
